Hexies 3 Ways
The Learning Curve Sampler Class
Quilt As You Go Reversible Drunkards Path – no curved piecing!
In this class you will learn 3 different ways to make a hexagon quilt. In the EPP segment you will learn all the shortcuts and the best tools to be successful at doing hand piecing on the go. Next, you will learn a very modern technique for doing hexies with no hand sewing and a quilt as you go technique. And finally, you will tackle the easy peasy way of machine sewing hexies with no Y seams. This is a technique class. A kit will be provided for a nominal fee.
In this class you will practice machine quilting while making the blocks for this quilt as you go project. If you are a beginner this will speed you along to conquering your fears of machine quilting. If you are an experienced machine quilter you will simply speed through this portion of the class and get a lot done!
A template is used to rotary cut different sized drunkards but there is absolutely no curved piecing! We will then join the quilted, finished squares by machine. Only the binding will need to be added to complete this lap sized quilt.
Pictured are three versions of the same quilt. You will not be able to stop at one!
This mini purse is made using a simple method to make continuous prairie points - no tedious squares to pin! You will also do some walking foot quilting AND you will finish this purse in the class!
Kit fee: $20 includes everything except for the fabric.
The Learning Curve Sampler
When is a circle not a circle? When it’s a nine patch! This class uses the Learning Curve ruler which comes with instructions to make 13 different blocks PLUS 4 different borders. In the class you will quickly conquer gentle curved piecing with no pins and no precise sewing. The project is a table runner (or a long wall hanging) and we will finish it in a quilt as you go technique. This is a fun cost efficient ruler that you will use over and over again!
Kit fee for ruler $20
No special ruler needed for this project! This is a really simple paper pieced pattern that uses scraps and ends up looking so complicated! There is a kit fee of $10 which includes the pattern and 10 pre-printed pattern pages which is enough to get you through class.
Alphabet Hexie Paper Piecing
Learn to paper piece large 3” alphabet hexies with no special ruler required. Use lots of scraps and spell out a name or a saying. You will also learn how to set your hexie letters without the dreaded Y seams! Pattern down load required prior to class. Pattern fee $12.
